 Happy Saint Patrick's Day

 We had corned beef and cabbage for dinner. We wore our green shirts. We painted fingernails (or toes for Maddy) green. Our milk turned green. Maddy got the hiccups and told me "the leprechauns said, 'it's time for Madelyn's hiccups to come'" 

It was a lovely day until . . .

Maddy turned 3

Madelyn turned three on March 2nd. I can hardly believe it. Oh those three years went fast. On Friday evening since it was her acutal birthday, Maddy opened a few presents from mom and dad.

She was very happy with her Snow White dress. Believe it or not, these are her happy "SMILE" faces!

 The next day we invited a few cousins and the Buhlers over for a party. The Buhlers are the family in our ward that babysat Maddy everyday for over a year. We call the buhler kids Maddy's other brothers and sisters.

The kids made rice sandboxes . Thanks Sharon for the idea. We colored our rice and then got all our little items and hid them in the rice. Then we had a contest to see who could find all the items on their "map" first. I believe Lilian won. Good job Lilian! 

We also made shooters. I found this idea through pinterest and though marshmallows work a bit better, we decided to use pom-poms just in case any got lost in the basement. I didn't want to deal with ants in addition to the other bugs we probably have down there. This worked best for the older kids and not quite as good for the little ones. I have to admit, I sat and played with one for quite awhile myself.

(I thought this was the new lipstick from grandma scooter-ride on Maddy's face. I was thinking I'd have to "lose" that gift, but turns out it's frosting. The lipstick from grandma is not only clear but also flavored! Perfect) 

We had a wonderful time. Our first big party went well. The 9 kids were entertained, the 1 teenager was entertained, and the 5 adults didn't go crazy. I call that a success. I'll admit, I'm kind of looking forward to doing another party next year!

Today Maddy did my hair before school. I only wish I could have got a really good shot of the back. She had clips all over and several pony tails even. Masterful work! I had to wear them to her school because she trew a fuss when I tried to take them out!!

defective

I got a letter from my pharmacy yesterday. They were informing me that there was a recall on my birth control prescription because 6 lots worth of the product was put into the blister pack backwards. Then they had the nice remark that if I had one of the affected lots, I should return the remaining to the pharmacy and start using a non-hormonal form of birth control immediatly.

So, here's the question. If someone were to have one of the affected packs and got pregnant due to this mess up can they expect the manufacturer to pay for the hospital bills and all future costs of the child?

Happy News

At Miss Swendy's Day School, they have a "special person" each day. On Maddy's first day of school, she came home with this taped to her back. I'm not sure how they determine who is the special person that day - maybe they just rotate through the kids in the class . . . Whatever the case, Maddy has quite a few "special persons" taped to her door.

In the past month or two, Maddy has been making "special persons" for everyone. Sometimes she takes a scrap of paper, a piece of wrapping paper, a wrapper from a candy, a picture from school - anything that she can then put tape on all four sides and tape to your back. Then she tells you "you are a special person. You can be the leader." As you can see, we have them taped on doors all over the house.

On Scott's birthday last month Maddy made a "special person" for Dad and put it on the back of his jacket. The next day, when he went to pick her up from school, one of the teachers said "what's that on your back?" He didn't realize that Maddy's work was still there. He explained that Maddy has been making these for us all the time. They laughed really hard. What a funny, clever girl I have.
