Easter

The Friday before Easter Scott and I took the day off (actually, Scott got Good Friday off - no fair) and we bought a bunch of plants for the front flower beds. We spent a lot of hours and sweat getting in some shade loving plants. I hope that I don't kill these ones. 

Easter weekend this year was also conference weekend. I thought I wouldn't like that - and it was sad to not have church with the ward - but I loved the focus that it gave to conference.

Sunday morning before conference started Maddy got to have an Easter egg hunt. So here we go with some pictures.

HAPPY EASTER 2014

 

This was not Maddy's easter dress (the one below is) but she looked so beautiful with her curly hair and lovely velvet and taffeta dress (thanks cousin Aly) that I stoll a few pictures before church got underway. They seemed fitting here in a springtime post.

On Saturday we decorated easter eggs and even tried the shrinky-dink wrappers. Sadly, I still don't know how to boil an egg without having a few turn end up with insides leeking out. So, we color the ones without cracks and we have eggs with salt while we dye.

Sunday after church we came home and had a family easter egg hunt. With only one to search it's a bit less of a noisy affair but Maddy sure enjoys it whether she's alone or with cousins. It's amazing how many plastic eggs can be filled with one bag of malt balls and one bag of jelly beans.

2 is old enough to dye Easter eggs!

That's what I thought. I'm not so sure it is correct. One mistake I'll not make again - plastic, soft-sided color containers. Maddy kept trying to hold onto them and she'd squeeze the sides and all the dye would spill over! I had fun though and her favorite part was putting stickers on the finished eggs so I suppose it wasn't a total bust!

On Easter Sunday, we had a hunt at Grandma's house in Payson. Cousins Caroman and Anna and Khloe joined Maddy during the rain hiatus and had a great time.

Sometimes you just have to stop and have a little candy for fuel. The hunt is a grueling one.

After the hunt, Grandma trades in eggs with "$" for 2-dollar bills, eggs with the cent sign for quarters, and "T" for toys and blank ones for candy. The big kids liked the money and of course, Maddy's favorite was the bubbles!

Cousin Khloe enjoyed the bubbles too!

Anna and Caroman and Uncle Jeff were useful in making bubbles to chase
